This group started as a duo in Mexico and then traveled throughout Central and South America playing and collecting wood for instruments. Their ancient hand-made flutes mixed with modern guitars creates exotic sounds that describe the mystery of the mountains and valleys of South America. Miguel Camacho plays pan flutes, bamboo flutes, and percussion while Rogelio Ransoli plays guitar and pan flutes. Some other native instruments they incorporate into their music are the turtle shell, goat feet, and rain stick.

The “rondalla” is the Philippine counterpart of the string chamber orchestra. It consists of instruments originally introduces to the Philippines by the early Spanish colonizers bandurria, octavina, laud, mandolin, guitar, and bass. Authentic, traditional Filipino music is performed. Rondalla music evokes a sense of nationalism and ethnic pride.

Planina (means “mountain” in the southern Slavic languages) is a group of eight to fourteen singers from the Denver-Boulder area who perform the hauntingly beautiful songs of Eastern Europe including music from Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. The singers wear an array of colorful, authentic folk costumes and provide explanations and interesting details about the songs.

Shir Ami is a musical group specializing in Jewish folk song, both traditional and contemporary.
